Repairing the Past, Imagining the Future: Reparations and Beyond…

From 5 to 7 November 2015, a conference is organized by Dr Nicola Frith (University of Edinburgh) and Professor Joyce Hope Scott (Wheelock College, Boston, USA) on the theme of reparations, and is hosted by the University of Edinburgh. Set within the wider context of the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the USA (13th amendment), as well the recent calls by CARICOM for reparative action, the conference explores reparations from a broad disciplinary base, with panels on law and justice, ethics and philosophy, history, politics, cultural and literary studies, and the social sciences, and with papers from academics, scholar-activists and cultural practitioners.
