Pré-Colloque sur la réparation de l'esclavage

On 3 June 2017, a pre-colloquium on reparations for slavery is organized by the Association pour une Réparation Globale de l'Esclavage (APRGE) and sponsored by M. Karim da Silva at the Musée da Silva in Porto-Novo.The pre-colloquium is intended as a forerunner to the international colloquium that will be held in Porto-Novo in September 2018 and is attended by 150 people, including four traditional kings (one from Guadeloupe and three from Benin). The colloquium is concluded with discussions relating to proposals for reparative action, such as the need to: proclaim the free circulation of peoples and goods within the African Union (AU) and extend that right to all people of African descent; transfer technological know-how; establish reparations committees in each member state of the AU; to invest in cultural projects and infrastructure.
