1990
Lagos, Nigeria
In December 1990, the First International Conference on Reparations is held in Lagos, pioneered by the late Chief Moshood Abiola of Nigeria and the late Ambassador Dudley Thompson of Jamaica. The importance of this event lies in its having (re-)launched a transnational campaign for reparations that will lead to the establishment of a 'Group of Eminent Persons', as well as a 'Commission on Reparations' in 1992.
