Shodona has worked in the fields of international development, human rights and policy and research for nine years. Her experience includes working with Minority Rights Group, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Haiti Support Group, among others. She exerted pressure on the British Ambassador to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the European Union and the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent regarding the human rights of Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent. Shodona’s research has focused on the rights of Afro-descendents in Peru, Colombia and Ecuador. She is currently looking into reparatory justice across the Americas and the Caribbean. Shodona is currently a member of the Pan-African group Addis Abeba in Ecuador and the Caribbean Coalition of Civil Society Organisations around the UN International Decade for People of African Descent. Shodona lives in Quito, Ecuador, and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco of Quito.
